 PEF UPDATE OCTOBER 2021
Colourful Life at the House Reef
Corals, sponges and algae grow, multiply and shine in all colours. Artificially created reefs are sprouting and the Raja4Divers logo has evolved from a blank steel model to a lush form. The figures created by our artist Pak Busro have received colourful outfits and some even feature a head full of wild hair by now. The reef community apparently feels at home and keeps on growing!

 PEF UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2021
Thanks to your support of our project «Raja4Rice», our employees and their families can still count on getting enough rice as their basic food. It gives us incredible strength and motivation to feel this great solidarity and helps us to continue.
We are infinitely grateful that so many people all over the world are thinking of our team on the island and their families and are actively helping to overcome this great challenge. It is our greatest wish to be able to welcome you back to Pulau Pef soon and to thank you again personally.
Terima Kasih Banyak from the bottom of our heart!

 PEF UPDATE AUGUST 2021
New Freshness from Head to Toe
Our jetty and thus «the gateway» to Pulau Pef appears in new splendour: the walls have been renewed, the floors repaired and reinforced and underwater stakes have been replaced.
To crown it all, the roof is being re-covered with sago palm leaves. Everyone pitches in: carpenters, dive managers, boat crew, technicians, dive guides and even employees from our housekeeping and kitchen teams.

PEF UPDATE JULY 2021
Kitchen or Chicken
For many years already, we have been teaching English to our employees, sometimes more and sometime less successfully.
Despite smoking heads and sweaty faces, we often have a good laugh because - and this is an exceptional quality of the Papuans - they love to laugh at themselves. Take Gerry from our kitchen team, for example. When asked "What is your job?" he answered from the bottom of his heart: «I'm working in the chicken!»

PEF UPDATE JUNE 2021
10 Years Raja4Divers
Exactly 10 years ago, in June 2011, after a good six months of construction work and various test guests, we welcomed our first official guests.
We hope that this year - 10 years later - we will soon be able to welcome guests from all over the world again.
We are not running out of ideas yet. As we still have some fibreglass material that needs to be used before it goes bad, we decided to build our own small boat.

Picture
PEF UPDATE MAY 2021
We are currently trying to combine business with pleasure whenever possible. Among other things, we have to save on expensive fuel due to the pandemic. This is why there were hardly any boat trips last year, and our dive guides spent more than a year with almost no diving.
Hoping that the borders will re-open soon, we have now started to get our dive guides in the water again on a regular basis, work on their dive briefings, repeat various procedures and make them memorise our many dive sites again. Some things that were familiar before have fallen into oblivion during the last 13 months.

Picture
PEF UPDATE APRIL 2021
Today, we have some good news! More than half of our staff have already received their first shot of the Corona vaccine. The rest of our employees will gradually be vaccinated in the coming weeks if they wish to. The second vaccination will follow in due time.
We are very happy to be given the opportunity by the government to vaccinate our employees early because we work in tourism. This gives reason for hope that the Indonesian borders will re-open to foreign tourists in a near future and that we will finally be able to welcome guests again on Pulau Pef.

PEF UPDATE MARCH 2021
Nasi Goreng (fried rice) is probably the best-known way of preparing rice in the Indonesian cuisine. As a small thank you for the still regular contributions to «Raja4Rice» we receive from all of you, Dikla from our kitchen team has prepared a traditional Nasi Goreng. Check out the video in the newsletter to see the individual steps of preparation.
Make sure to watch til the end, the whole team also makes a short appearance!

PEF UPDATE FEBRUARY 2021
Whale Shark at Pulau Pef's House Reef!
A few days ago, our staff on the island enjoyed a sensational and extremely rare experience! A Whale Shark came to feed at our house reef and swam for a while with the adventurous ones among our team.
Fortunately, our snorkelling guide Tulus was able to capture this moment with his underwater camera.

PEF UPDATE DECEMBER 2020
Looking to the future with confidence.
We are happy that our paradise is as gorgeous as ever and that we are still able to take care of it. Nature has used the forced break to recover, and life above and below the water is brimming with energy!
Giving up is not an option for us because, considering the circumstances, we are all still doing fine.
All that's missing now are our guests!

Picture
PEF UPDATE NOVEMBER 2020
Resort maintenance is key!
Have you ever tried to imagine what our resort would look like if it were not maintained, even for a short period of time?
It would be shocking, that's for sure! The humidity, the sun, the wind and the rain as well as the salty air have a very damaging effect on the entire resort, including machinery, equipment and boats.

Picture
PEF UPDATE OCTOBER 2020
For generations, the local population has been using leaves, flowers, wood, tree bark and many more as medicine, as there are hardly any medical doctors in the villages of Raja Ampat.
Let us tell you a little about the medicinal plants of Pulau Pef.

Picture
PEF UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2020
Susah, Senang - Kita Tanggung Bersama!
«Difficult times, happy times - we will get through them together!»
This is our new team motto on the island. We strongly believe in it and work every day towards our goal of welcoming guests again very soon to our unique island of Pef.

Picture
PEF UPDATE AUGUST 2020
At the beginning of April, we launched the project «Raja4Rice» to support our employees, their families and our neighbouring village Kabui with rice which is currently hard to obtain due to restrictions and lack of resources.
We are still overwhelmed by the echo this project has generated and by the incredible solidarity you have shown us!

Picture
PEF UPDATE JULY 30, 2020
For a good week now, Raja Ampat has been considered a «green zone» with regard to Covid-19. This means that all infected persons have recovered and no new infections have been registered. Fortunately, Raja Ampat also has not had any deaths due to Corona yet.
This is good news, making us hope that tourist activities will soon be permitted again and that we will be able to receive guests in a not so distant future.

Picture
PEF UPDATE JULY 2020
Things are slowly starting to move again in Indonesia - quite literally. Travelling within the country is now possible again and travels can be booked with a certain degree of reliability. However, trains, buses, ships and airplanes still operate at a limited frequency.
At present, there are no news yet about the borders opening for tourists. But we hope to be able to tell you more in our next newsletter.

PEF UPDATE JUNE 2020
We have created and published a few new «Dream Now - Travel Later» short films. If you have not seen them yet, you can watch them on YouTube.
How about a «Sambal by Wiwi», for example? In her tutorial, our cook Wiwi explains in simple steps how you can prepare her legendary hot Sambal yourself.
You can download the recipe here.

PEF UPDATE May 2020
«Do you still have enough to eat on the island?»
Many friends and guests inquire about the supply of food on the island, as we currently do not buy fish, vegetables and fruits from our local neighbours.
How does our kitchen crew manage this? Find the interview with our kitchen team in this newsletter.

whenever possible for food and building material.
