Raja4Divers currently has around 75 full-time employees working and living on Pulau Pef and in Sorong or supporting us from Switzerland. Many of our employees are Papuans from the surrounding villages, some are from Sorong, Java, Ambon, Bali, Sulawesi, Sumatra and a few are from foreign countries. They all have sunny natures, are naturally very friendly and helpful and have a great sense of humor. You can often hear their laughter and their singing across the whole island. Their English is sometimes limited, but we keep on teaching them and they often understand more than they speak.
Beside the staff you see every day like the kitchen, the housekeeping or the diving team, there are also a lot of people working «behind the scenes». Allrounders keep the resort, walkways, jetties and beaches neat and tidy. The fuel man hands out the fuel to the boat crew, the compressor men fill the diving tanks, the water man makes sure the water runs, the electrician is in charge of the power supply, the technicians maintain and repair whatever breaks, the construction team made all the buildings and furniture and are in charge for the maintenance, and many other busy bees are making sure that the resort runs smoothly.
Our logistics team in Sorong takes care of all the supplies and works hard to get what all the different departments on the island request. As Sorong is not highly developed yet, we can’t always find the required goods, which forces us to improvise with what we get. Additionally, they organize your transportation from the airport to the hotel and to the harbor.
